"Well if Goldwater ever becomes president one thing his presence in the WH will do, It will make black people in American have to face up to the facts for the first time in many many years. This in itself is good in that Goldwater is not a man who is not capable of hiding his racist tendencies and at the same he’s not capable of even pretending to Negros that he’s their friend. So this will have a tendency make the negro, probably for the first time, do something to stand on his own feet and solve his own problems instead of putting himself in a position to be misled, misused, exploited by the whites who pose as liberals only for the purpose of getting the support of the negro. So in one sense Goldwater’s coming in will awaken the Negro and will probably awaken the entire world more so than the world has been awakened since Hitler." - Malcolm X Replace Goldwater with 'Trump.' Trump is the jarring reflection of the realities in our society. The fear and anguish and frustration and anger and confusion and sadness the Trump presidency has brought over the nation is what African American communities have felt since we were taken from the shores of Afrika. This new urgency to 'resist' amongst the 'liberal' community is cute but Blacks have been resisting and surviving since the inception of this stolen country. My father told me, unless you're an entrepreneur, you're a slave. If there was a ever a time to take back control of our communities it's now - while the oppression is directly in our face- live, blatantly racist and hypocritical. Start locally by supporting businesses that are in YOUR community if you can. Avoid corporate retailers. Live minimal and enjoy the serenity of simplicity. Choose a young kid to mentor. There are so many ways to help but it's got to be local. There's no better time than now. #peaceandlove #community #unity #BrotherMalcolm
